Your post surgical amputation patients present great protection challenges and y our treatment regimen needs to go beyond restoration of funct ion and stability. The rate of second amputations and other morbidities with diabetic and other vascularly impaired pati ents is alarmingly high. It is critically important that the foot is housed in proper socks to avoid irritation during ambulation. One Silipos® Partial Foot
Sock or one pair of Langer Diab-A-Sox are included in the price of the Propel Orthotic System. Appropriate additional hosiery products are available for continued purchase.
The Propel system offers two hosiery solutions. For the transmet amputees, a Silipos Partial Foot Sock is provided. These socks are made of a 2-ply Polyester/Lycra® spandex material knitted specifically to provide a completely smooth surface on the inside of the sock and lined with Silipos® polymer gel at its distal end, the Partial Foot Sock™ is designed to provide maximum comfort and protection to partial foot amputees. The polymer gel releases a medical grade mineral oil to moisturize, soften, cushion, and protect tra ns-metatarsal amputations from pressure and shearing.
For other partial amputees, a pair of Langer Diab-A-Sox is provided. These socks are a purely seamless sock free of pressure points. They are moisture wicking and bacterial inhibiting.
